Review: Big Sean – Finally Famous

June 15, 2011

Big Sean’s first studio album with notable features from Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, Rick Ross, Chiddy Bang, Chris Brown, Dwele, John Legend, Lupe Fiasco, Pharrell and Pusha T. I left out Roscoe Dash because frankly I’d like to forget he is on Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay. I listened to this album on my way to my internship today and honestly I was expecting more. The tracks I was expecting to stand with features from the likes of Wiz and Lupe just fell flat for me. The only track that I really even felt the need to bump was Dance (A$$) because I liked the sample. I have always liked Big Sean in his features and this was his time to shine on his own. For me it didn’t live up to my expectations. NO I.D. produced a lot of the tracks and was taking a “sonic” direction with the album. The only thing sonic about this album will be speed that it is dismissed. Later I will post some tracks so we can hear your opinions!

Nas – Nasty

June 14, 2011

Nas dropped his first single off his upcoming album titled Life is Good.  The single’s  title was aptly derived from Nas’ former moniker Nasty Nas.  This track is very reminiscent of Nas’ old style which he used to become one of hip-hop’s greatest legends.

Slaughterhouse the group’s self titled depute album was released August 11, 2009 on E1 Music. It was recorded in six days and due to the groups underground nature only sold 18,600 of the 20,000 total albums shipped to stores in the first week.  With a powerhouse record label such as Shady/Interscope now backing the group along with the Eminem declaring he intends to work closely with them on their next project, it would not be unlikely to see a massively commercially successful album coming in the future.  All I can hope for is that the group stays true to the style that got them to where they are instead of selling out to the popular masses.  We shall see…
