‘The Eminem Show’ Goes Diamond in the U.S.

March 10, 2011

Eminem isn’t rapping like he used to but that doesn’t mean people stopped liking how he used to rap. Em’s critically acclaimed third major label album The Eminem Show hit the 10,000,000 sales mark this week earning the coveted Diamond plaque according to the RIAA.

The Eminem Show was largely considered a turning point for Em as an artist where he began to focus less an cartoonishly  blasting celebrities, carelessly abusing drugs and overtly and gratuitously verbal abusing women and gays and instead began to focus more addressing the realities he faces as he gained his god-like celebrity status. Ironically, many people who saw this change as a turn for the worst musically. I for one consider this his last truly great CD before his drug addiction and death if his best friend Proof (of D12) changed his personality irreversibly forever altering him away from the care free young emcee he flawless portrayed in his first two albums.

That being said, Eminem was and remains one of the best emcees of all time whose music redefined hip-hop forever.

Heres one of my favorite tracks off the album:
